Child care help in Toronto (City of Toronto)
Fee subsidy: City of Toronto Child Care Fee Subsidy, phone 416-338-8888 or 311. Toronto has a fee subsidy waitlist, so the City advises applying as early as possible; you can apply as soon as you are expecting a child. After applying you get an email with your waitlist date and client file number. If you receive Ontario Works, apply through your caseworker.
How waitlists work here: Each licensed centre keeps its own waitlist; contact each one directly. For the City-run Toronto Early Learning & Child Care Services (TELCCS) centres, the one fee subsidy application also puts you on the waitlist for the TELCCS programs you choose. Full-fee families use the separate TELCCS waitlist registration. Official finder: City of Toronto: Licensed child care.
$22/day: Since January 1, 2025, base fees for eligible children under 6 in CWELCC-enrolled programs are capped at $22/day (ontario.ca). Not every centre is enrolled; ask each one.
